Inside the Mido Ocean Star 39 is the automatic caliber Mido 72, based on the ETA A31.111 movement. This is not the Powermatic 80 but another caliber from the ETA family with a 72-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring. The ETA A31.111 movement is based on the ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement.
Now, what else is important to note? The ETA 2892-A2 has a power reserve of 42 hours, while the A31.111 can run up to 72 hours with full winding. This improvement was achieved by using upgraded materials for the mainspring and fitting a longer spring with more coils. The Mido 72 caliber operates at a frequency of 25,500 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz), providing precise timekeeping. This movement has 21 jewels and is known for its reliability and durability.
