Vampires aren’t just mythical creatures or superheroes with awesome powers. They’re indeed the imaginative creations of different cultures. Did you know that the Serbs were the first to use the word “vampire,” which spread like wildfire across the Balkans and eventually the whole world? Today, this word is recognized globally, thanks to those cult series we all obsessed over as kids, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. But what on earth do vampires have to do with Swiss watches? Let’s get into the new Chronoswiss Delphis Dracula!

Chronoswiss Delphis Dracula 101

Chronoswiss is a brand that’s indeed been turning heads for the past two years! Every encounter with their watch models brings new excitement, for sure. This time, they’re presenting three new models in the Delphis series.

Fun fact: the Chronoswiss team, along with a select audience, got a sneak peek of the Dracula model three months before the official presentation. During this preview, Maximilian, the PR and social media director at Chronoswiss, was told that this model would be a big hit, especially in the Balkans, where Dracula is a cultural legend and a symbol of an era.

Meet Dracula, Dina, and Horizon

What is the ideal gothic watch? In addition to Dracula, Chronoswiss also introduces Dina and Horizon. These models share the same tech specs. We see a 42mm diameter and a 14mm case height.

Chronoswiss Dina and Horizon come in titanium with a high-gloss finish. Indeed, this is something rarely seen at this level except with brands like Bovet. Chronoswiss is known for its amazing attention to detail, with most components crafted in-house. This includes the C.6004 caliber – an automatic mechanism that operates at 4 Hz and provides a 55-hour power reserve. These watches also have the Incabloc shock protection system, ensuring durability and precision.

Delphis Dracula Series – Time with a Twist

For many, this might be their first introduction to the Delphis series and Chronoswiss watches. The main philosophy behind these watches is to create dials that feature differently styled time indicators.

Essentially, Chronoswiss mixes multiple time display styles into one watch. We can say this is a signature element that has garnered them much acclaim!

They also hold the distinction of being the first watch company to use a transparent case back instead of a metal one. Ans this is truly a move that revolutionized the industry!

Retrograde and Jumping Hours

Focusing on the new models and their unique time display features, all three watches in the series share the same dial configuration. We can see a small seconds sub-dial positioned at 6 o’clock. This sub-dial has a guilloché texture and enamel coating in vivid colors.

The minutes are indicated using a retrograde hand. Namely, this one resets from the end of the scale back to the start. The hours sit simply through an aperture at 12 o’clock, using the jumping hours function. This innovative approach makes reading the time a visually engaging experience.

The Art of Guilloché Dials

The craftsmanship involved in creating these curved, guilloché-enamel dials is amazing! Such intricate work is rare and a testament to Chronoswiss’s dedication to quality. The Chronoswiss workshop in Lucerne is where these masterpieces come to life.

Remarkably, one craftsman makes and decorates all the dials for these Swiss luxury watches. It is interesting to know that Chronoswiss is a small company, with only 16 people, yet they produce some of the most exquisite watches. The Dina model is distinguished by its brown dial, the Horizon by its blue dial, and the star of the show, Dracula, by its striking red dial.

Limited Editions: Only 50 Pieces Each!

Each of these models is limited to just 50 pieces, adding to their exclusivity and cool charm. Now, what about the price? The Dracula watch model, featuring rose gold, commands the highest price at 38,400 CHF. Meanwhile, the titanium models, Horizon and Dina, cost 19,800 CHF each.
