When it comes to special Seiko editions, it’s clear that Thailand is home to some of the most stunning Seiko watches. We could all agree! Among these, the Zimbe series truly stands out. Now, are you ready to dive deeper? Stay tuned for more deets in our Seiko Zimbe review!

Seiko’s Thai Treasure: The Zimbe Collection

So, what is there to know about this gem? First and foremost, it is inspired by the glorious whale shark! This is a gentle giant of the ocean that glides through the seas, traveling over a million kilometers in its lifetime. This is an interesting fact.

Now, the Zimbe collection pays homage to this incredible marine creature. The name “Zimbe” comes from the Japanese term “Jinbe Zame,” which refers to the whale shark itself.

With 18 unique models already gracing the Zimbe collection, the release of the 19th model marks a bittersweet end to this iconic series.

We know that it is set to debut in mid-August 2024. And, the newest addition has already earned the nickname “The Last Zimbe” among watch enthusiasts.

Design & Features – A Tribute to the Ocean

The Seiko Prospex Zimbe No. 19 SPB443, as it’s officially known, has a sleek stainless steel case with a classic Heritage 1965 design. We can see 40mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug width of 47.6mm and a thickness of 13.2mm. Overall, it indeed balances robust functionality with nice aesthetics!

The watch has a sapphire crystal and a rotating bezel with a blue ionized coating. So, we could truly say it boosts both durability and style.

As a professional diver’s watch, “The Last Zimbe” is waterproof up to 200 meters. Moreover, we see that it comes with a stainless steel bracelet that complements its deep blue dial. This makes it not only a solid accessory but also a practical buddy for your underwater adventures.

Dial Design – A Splash of the Deep Blue

Given that this is the final model in the Zimbe series, it’s fitting that the design draws deep inspiration from the whale shark. Seiko, famous for crafting some of the most beautiful dials in watchmaking, doesn’t disappoint here!

The dial shows a stunning ocean blue hue with a subtle dot pattern reminiscent of the whale shark’s skin. A dazzling sunburst effect adds depth. And, the blue second hand ties the marine theme together quite beautifully! Also, the date window at 3 o’clock maintains the dial’s symmetry and adds to its overall visual appeal. Indeed, this makes it a treat for both Seiko aficionados and collectors worldwide!
